It’s nothing to be ashamed of – we can get overwhelmed by the holiday craze and all the things and sales that the stores push on us. I just wanted to create a little inspo list of simple ways you can decorate for this holiday season without the need of buying everything new or decorating every little corner of the house. Do what best suits you and your family, not for Instagram and Pinterest. These subtle, simple, yet classic holiday decorations are beautiful ways (or way) to decorate for this holiday season and helps from things getting overwhelming – from the tree to the throw blankets and candles.

1. The Christmas Tree
You may have a Christmas tree, you may not. It may be small, or it may not be. It may be fake, or it may be real. However it may be, it’s beautiful as is! No need to feel pressured to buy and decorate with as many ornaments as possible. I mean, there are so many good ornaments out there, no doubt! But simple is just as beautiful.

2. Stockings
I love this stocking DIY from Sarah at Room for Tuesday. Instead of purchasing new ones every year, she sews slipcovers and just replaces it every year or so with her choice of fabric! Smart, right? I love how stockings bring in another piece of simple Christmas decor but that might also bring in temptation to fill them just because everyone else is probably doing it, come Christmas day. I’m not a fan of “stocking stuffers” that most stores begin to sell this time of the year. I mean, it’s mostly just miscellaneous things (or junk food) that are small enough to fit into stockings. So if you completely skip the stockings this year, that’s totally fine too.

3. A Table Centerpiece
Aren’t these inspo pics just the best? Bringing in a centerpiece to have on your dining table throughout the holiday season is an easy way to bring in the holiday cheer. You don’t need much for this! Plus, your table is already halfway ready for guests!

4. Twinkle Lights
Ahhh, the string lights. They bring in a whole other level of cozy! A simple element to add but oh, so pretty.

5. Wreaths, Garland, and Stems
If you’re like me, you don’t have a wreath on your door (or anywhere else) unless it’s the Christmas season. But is it necessary? Definitely not. Do you have to hang garland somewhere? Nope. But if you want to, don’t be afraid to get crafty and look for things you can use from your yard or faux stems that you already have! Or just snip a few branches off a tree, place it in a vase, and wala. Another easy element of Christmas decor-for free.

6. Holiday Cards
Speaking of branches, this DIY holiday card display can be a part of your Christmas decorations. Instead of having all your holiday cards pile up, displaying them in any way is just as good!

7. Candles
There’s something about a candle burning that brings relaxation and peace. If all you do is light some pine smelling candles for this holiday season, you’re doing things right.

8. Texture
By texture, I mean pillows, blankets, throws, and even rugs. A simple touch of texture (and no, it doesn’t have to be red or green) can bring in warmth and winter vibes to your space without even having to decorate for the holiday season!
